Author Biography
Elie Yazbek, Ph.D is the Director of the Institut d’études scéniques, audiovisuelles et cinématographiques (IESAV) at the Université Saint Joseph (USJ) in Beirut, Lebanon, where he teaches several courses (Film Theory, Film Directing, Theory of Editing…).
He published two essays, Regards sur le cinéma libanais and Montage et idéologie dans le cinéma américain contemporain, a collective book Images et éthique, many articles in international journals and two plays (Orage d’été and Les autres enfants de Dieu). He is also a documentary filmmaker (From Shade to Light: The Pierre Abou Khater Story, Searching for Fouad Abi Abdallah, Silwan, Lebanese War Never Happened).
He is a board member of Fondation Liban-Cinéma and is involved in numerous activities in the film industry in Lebanon and the Middle East.
